Victoria being blamed for new illness 'Poshitis'

Victoria Beckham is allegedly responsible for a growing fashion health hazard.

The former Spice Girl has been blamed for a new illness, dubbed 'Poshitis', due to her obsession with oversized handbags - which she carries in the crook of her elbow - causing her legion of fashion-followers to give themselves muscle strain.

Health professionals have warned women copying their style icon and carting heavy bags around without wearing the straps on their shoulders can seriously tear muscles and inflame shoulder tendons.

Physiotherapist Sammy Margos told The Express newspaper: "We have seen handbags which weighed a huge 11/2 stone. It can cause repetitive strain injury and pain in the shoulder and neck.

"Women may think they are following a catwalk trend but they are storing up trouble. We have seen a huge increase in shoulder and neck problems and killer heels can add to the pressure on posture."

Victoria is one of Hollywood's leading trend-setters and is responsible for many other - less dangerous - looks, such as wearing oversized sunglasses at all times.

The designer previously revealed her mantra is: "Never forget your sunglasses - they finish off any look."

Discussing her love of bags, she added to Grazia magazine: "Make sure you always accessorise as the right bag can make the outfit."
