The beautiful moment a baby sees his mother for the first time

Meet Leopold Wilbur Reppond - who has a very grand name for such a little guy.

For the first four months of his life, Leo was unable to see properly as he has a rare disorder called oculocutaneous albinism.

As well as affecting the colouring of his hair, skin and eyes, the condition also affects his sight, leaving him 'seeing with his hands'.

But his parents, David and Erin, recently got him his first pair of (tiny) specialist glasses and filmed the moment they put them on for the first time at the family’s home in Woodinville, Washington.

As he gets used to them, Erin says “hi, honey” and Leo breaks into a big smile.

"I had some issues holding the camera because I was crying so much," David told MailOnline.

"I was overwhelmed with emotion. It’s just very touching. You cannot anticipate how you’re going to feel when something like that happens. It was very heartwarming. Leo looked at my wife for the first time and saw her for the first time."

David also said that Leo is now interacting more with people and the world around him.

“He’s seeing the world differently.”
