Garbajosa may miss out

France utility back Xavier Garbajosa could miss the World Cup because of a thigh injury.

France utility back Xavier Garbajosa could miss the World Cup because of a thigh injury.

The Stade Toulouse player limped off the pitch during his side’s crushing 83-12 win over the French Barbarians on Saturday after suffering a muscle spasm.

However, the pain has persisted and French medical staff fear a more serious problem.

Garbajosa will undergo further medical examinations today in Toulouse - but a muscle tear would rule him out of the World Cup, which starts on October 11.

If the Toulouse man is forced to pull out he would be replaced by David Bory or Vincent Clerc.

The French national team are currently at their training centre in Marcoussis where they will make their final preparations before leaving for Australia on September 29.
