Kiefer Sutherland fans will have to wait until 2009 to see the next instalment of hit TV drama '24', thanks to the newly ended Hollywood writers strike.

Eight episodes of the fast-paced show were filmed before the strike started on November 5, but producers fear there's not enough time to complete the remaining 16 segments of the new series, and so they're working towards a new air date.

Sutherland's anti-terrorist mastermind Jack Bauer will now return to the small screen next January.
