Chelsea have appealed to the Football Association over Carlo Cudicini’s sending off in Saturday’s FA Cup third round match with Middlesbrough.
Cudicini was shown the red card by referee Mark Halsey for allegedly kneeing Boro striker Dean Windass in the head during a goalmouth melee.
The Football Association’s official website, www.thefa.com revealed: “We have received an appeal from Chelsea. The video evidence will be submitted to the Video Advisory Panel for their recommendations.”
Although the referee saw the incident, an appeal is permitted because the sending off was for violent conduct.
