British comedian and actor Steve Coogan will return to big screen music roles after signing to star in a film about Northern Soul.
Coogan, better known for his roles as cringeworthy radio DJ Alan Partridge and as Octavius in 'Night at the Museum', has put his name down for Elaine Constantine’s new offering, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Coogan, who also starred as Factory Records founder Tony Wilson in '24 Hour Party People', joins a cast already boasting James Lance, Christian McKay and Roisin Murphy in the movie about the 1970s’ underground music movement that took northern England by storm.
The Little Film Company is drumming up international sales for the simply titled Northern Soul and introducing the project to buyers for the first time in Cannes.
