Anthony Hamilton produced a high-scoring performance to lead Mark Williams 5-3 in their second round clash.

In a thoroughly entertaining opening session, Hamilton knocked in breaks of 70, 97, 83 and 58 to move into an early 4-1 lead.

Williams fought his way back and closed the gap to just one frame, but Hamilton recorded a break of 87 to cap off a fine individual display.

Peter Ebdon, meanwhile, boosted his hopes of making the last eight with a confident display against Joe Perry this morning.

The 31-year-old won seven frames and requires just two more when the match resumes tonight.
