Thirty mourners have been rescued after a passenger on a sinking boat rang for help on his mobile phone.
Passenger Kelepi Comaisavou rang for emergency services after the ferrry Matakavou hit a reef and capsized off Fiji.
A two-month-old baby and a 58-year-old woman were found clinging to the coral reef in the cold but calm water.
"No-one would have known of the accident if I didn't have the mobile with me," said Mr Comaisavou.
The boat was bringing passengers back to the mainland from a funeral at nearby Ovalau Island reports news.com.au.
