Dean Windass was the major omission from the Sheffield United line-up for the First Division play-off final against Wolves at the Millennium Stadium.

The former Bradford and Middlesbrough striker started both legs of the semi-final victory over Nottingham Forest, but did not travel with the squad for the final.

Blades manager Neil Warnock promoted Steve Kabba to the starting line-up following his goal as a substitute in the second leg. Midfielder Stuart McCall was named among the substitutes after suffering an ankle injury.

Wolves boss Dave Jones resisted the temptation to start with midfielder Alex Rae, who had to be content with a place on the bench despite scoring the winner in the second leg of their semi-final victory over Reading as a substitute.

George Ndah failed to recover in time from a knee injury, but Paul Butler was passed fit despite carrying a knee injury.
