Elbow announce six UK tour dates

The alternative rock band Elbow will perform six intimate shows in total, with three-night residencies at Manchester's O2 Apollo and London's Hammersmith Eventim Apollo in February 2015.

Guy Garvey - the frontman of the five-piece band - said: "We enjoyed our theatre tour of the States and Canada this summer so much that we decided to do some at home.

"There is something magic about the history of old theatres and doing residencies in these lovely buildings means we can be playful with the staging."

The group - who have performed together since 1990 - released their sixth studio album 'The Take Off and Landing of Everything' earlier this year and are one of many bands and artists appearing at this month's iTunes Festival at London's Roundhouse.

In the statement published on the band's website, Guy also suggested that the band will perform songs from their 13 year back catalogue.

He hinted: "The band often discuss how great it would be to play older and rarer songs of ours alongside the ones we are best known for. We are also hoping for a range of excellent guests and are really excited about these shows."

Elbow will play the following shows:

February 5 - Manchester, O2 Apollo

February 6 - Manchester, O2 Apollo

February 7 - Manchester, O2 Apollo

February 10 - London, Hammersmith Eventim Apollo

February 11 - London, Hammersmith Eventim Apollo

February 12 - London, Hammersmith Eventim Apollo
