Striker falls down a hole during goal celebration

Coritiba striker Joel’s goal celebrations were abruptly cut short last night when he fell into a hole on the side of the pitch.

Coritiba were playing Sao Paulo in the Brazilian league and won 3-1, with two of the goals coming from Cameroon striker Joel.

Unfortunately his celebration of the second goal went painfully wrong.

The striker leapt over advertisement hoardings intending to run to the fans and celebrate.

He had failed to spot the hole, apparently a tunnel entrance, on the other side of the hoardings and disappeared into it.

Joel was pulled out by stewards and teammates looking decidedly shaken.

He was able to play afterwards and completed the match, but must be counting his bruises today after the painful looking fall.
