McEvoy returns to Oz

Kerrin McEvoy will return to his native Australia to take up the position as stable jockey for Sheikh Mohammed’s Darley operation.

McEvoy has been Godolphin understudy to Frankie Dettori for the last five years but is to leave England to take up the lucrative new role in his homeland.

The move comes after Sheikh Mohammed paid over £200million to purchase Woodlands Stud earlier this year.

McEvoy will principally be riding for trainer Peter Snowden.

“I have decided to take up the position as Darley’s number-one jockey in Australia and am very thankful that Sheikh Mohammed has offered me this position,” McEvoy said in a statement posted on www.godolphin.com.
