'We can cope without Barry": Murray
Rangers defender Ian Murray played down the significance of captain Barry Ferguson’s absence for tomorrow’s UEFA Cup second-leg tie against Osasuna.
Ferguson flew out to Spain this morning with the Rangers squad despite being suspended after picking up a booking in last week’s 1-1 draw at Ibrox in the first leg, which took him to three yellow cards in the competition.
Murray said: “We’ve played games without Barry in the past. Towards the end of last season he was out for five or six games and we managed to win the majority of them.
“Obviously he is a massive player and a big influence on us. But it is a chance for someone else to come in and play for that position.”
Injured defenders Andy Webster and Steven Smith also joined the Rangers squad at Glasgow airport ahead of their flight to Spain, but there was no prospect of either playing in the last-16 match.
