Karadzic faces court
Former Bosnian Serb leader Radovan Karadzic appeared before a UN war crimes court today on genocide charges.
Karadzic, whose arrest last week ended an 11-year-hunt, also faces charges of persecution and deportation.
He appeared gaunt, but expressionless, his recent disguise of bushy beard and long hair trimmed back to a semblance of the bouffant-haired tyrant familiar to the world in the 1990s.
He was flown to the Netherlands from Serbia yesterday morning and is being held at the UN war crimes tribunal.
He told the court he had an “invisible adviser” but would represent himself.
Karadzic sat unmoved listening to the list of war crimes charges he faces.
