A car bomb has exploded outside a hotel in the popular Spanish resort of Salou following a warning call from the Basque separatist group ETA.

The hotel was evacuated early this morning after police received the call and no one was injured in the explosion, which happened at around 8am.

ETA has killed more than 800 people in its 33-year fight for Basque independence from Spain.

Earlier this year, it announced that it would escalate its campaign by targeting tourists in Spain’s holiday resorts.
