TV chef and author Rachel Allen is to front a marketing campaign for sandwich chain O'Briens, it was announced today.

"Rachel will be retained as a creative consultant to O’Briens and over the course of the year will create delicious ‘Signature Sandwiches’, which will be on sale from January 2010 in all O’Briens Irish Sandwich Cafes nationwide," the company said.

The chef will also feature in a TV and radio advertising campaign.

O'Briens, one of the success stories of the Celtic Tiger era, had been hit hard by the economic downturn going into examinership in July of this year before a liquidator was appointed in October.

The master franchise was subsequently bought by the AIL restaurant group which is backed by Denis Desmond and Graeme Beere and includes the Abrakebabra, Bagel Factory, GBK & Yo!Sushi brands.
