Football League officials are expected to come to a decision by Thursday over a ticketing row between Tottenham and Arsenal.
The north London rivals will meet on January 24 at White Hart Lane in the Carling Cup semi-final first leg with the return leg a week later, but there has not been an agreement over allocations for away fans.
“Given police advice concerning fan safety, it will not be possible for the club to provide the full 15% allocation to Arsenal as stipulated in the competition rules,” read a statement on the official Spurs website tottenhamhotspur.com.
Tottenham were given around 5,000 tickets for the Emirates Stadium clash, a reduced 8% allocation.
They have also only given 8% of their capacity to away fans for the White Hart Lane clash, with 3,000 tickets made available to Gunners fans until a decision from the Football League is made.
The statement from Spurs confirmed: “Given that the club was unable to reach a satisfactory agreement with Arsenal with regard to ticket allocations for both legs of the Carling Cup semi-final, the matter has been referred to the Football League for arbitration.”
