Donald McCain’s Cheltenham Festival winner Whiteoak may turn out again at the Grand National meeting.
The five-year-old dented some lofty reputations in the David Nicholson Mares Hurdle on Friday, giving McCain his 50th winner of the season.
The youngster has now won three of her last four starts, with a short-head defeat to Tazbar at Doncaster her only recent reverse.
“I’ve always thought she was really good and it had only been other people that had made me doubt her, they had always said the others she had beaten had disappointed,” said McCain.
“She’s a real decent mare and she’s proved herself one of the best mares in the country.
“We don’t have anything else in mind as yet, there is a two and a half mile novice at Aintree for her and we’ll have to have a look at that but Cheltenham was the target so we’ll play it by ear.
“There was a doubt about her getting two and a half miles because she is so fast and because of that you just think she is a two-miler.
“But she gets two and a half and she’s quick which is even better.
“I’m a big fan of Tazbar and he must now be the best novice in the north and people kept slagging the form.
“Her win made it 50 for the season so touch wood it keeps going the right way.”
