Paul Gascoigne is set to turn out for non-league Morpeth Town - for £20 a game.

Gascoigne, who used to earn €55,000-a-week, has been training with the Northern League side and is expected to sign for them next week.

The former Spurs, Newcastle, Lazio, Rangers, Everton and Middlesbrough midfielder has offers to play in China and is keen to get match fit.

Morpeth chairman, Ken Beattie, said: "He has offered to turn out for us to get his match fitness back and if there is time before he goes aboard, we will register and play him.

"We have a labourer, plumber, IT specialist and all sorts playing for us. All they get is a few quid to cover expenses."
