Dowling hits the gym in 'Big Brother' preparations

Brian Dowling has been hitting the gym before hosting 'Big Brother'.

The Irish star - who shot to fame after winning the show in 2001 and last year won 'Ultimate Big Brother', which had been billed as the final series - has been trying to get in shape before he presents the reality programme, which is set to re-launch on Channel 5 next month.

When asked if he's been working out in the gym, he said: "I have been for the past month or so, yeah. Before that, I'd not been in two and a half years! I'm already feeling better.

"My weight has fluctuated over the years, but I always found it bizarre that people would openly comment on it, whether in the papers or on the internet!

"I've been eating a lot more healthily since 'Ultimate Big Brother' - before I was eating all the wrong foods at the wrong time. Now I'm having breakfast, having dinner earlier and doing exercise."

The 33-year-old host - who is taking over from Davina McCall as 'Big Brother' presenter - also revealed he would love to see his compatriots Jedward and pop superstar Britney Spears in the celebrity house.

He added: "Jedward would be funny to watch. I've interviewed them and they're so great and so positive, but I honestly don't know who's going into the house. I don't think I want to know, either.

"Britney Spears would be amazing. I'd like to see the Octomum [Nadya Suleman,] in there, too."
