Veteran Irish golfer Des Smyth has been drawn in the first match of this year's Open Championship at Muirfield.

Veteran Irish golfer Des Smyth has been drawn in the first match of this year's Open Championship at Muirfield.

Smyth will tee off at 7am on Thursday morning alongside Peter Baker and South African James Kingtons.

Paul McGinley's out an hour later alongside Toru Taniguchi and American Dudley Hart.

Padraig Harrington will have John Daly and Adam Scott for company, while Darren Clarke is paired with American duo David Toms and Kevin Sutherland.

Tiger Woods will play alongside Justin Rose and Sigeki Maruyama for the opening two days.
