Barlow reveals plan to collaborate with Williams

Take That singer Gary Barlow has revealed that he would like to collaborate with Robbie Williams in the future.

Take That singer Gary Barlow has revealed that he would like to collaborate with Robbie Williams in the future.

Asked about any future plans to collaborate with his old bandmate, Barlow said: “I mean, you know, everyone asks us and I do, I don’t know when it will be but I definitely do, yep.”

Barlow has also revealed how he played a Take That DVD for Williams – who declared that he “loved” it.

Speaking on GMTV, Barlow told how he was having a meal with Williams and suggested that they watch the recent footage of the band’s tour.

Barlow, 38, recalled: “I said ’Rob do you fancy having a listen?’

“I was up at his house one night having some sushi with him I said ’Shall we have a watch?’

“And I said to him: ’Listen, flick through the bits you don’t want to watch,’ but we watched the whole thing and he loved it.

“And it was so nice to see him enjoying what we’re doing.”

Put to him that Williams has said he felt he was missing out, Barlow replied: “I think one of the things that Rob always says is that because it is him on his own, the whole weight of the show and being a performer is on his shoulder - all eyes are on him. And I must say, being part of a band, the responsibility is shared.

“And yeah I think he looks at that and probably would like it to be like that for him too. Yeah it’s hard.”

Barlow said he had also listened to Williams’s new album, 'Reality Killed The Video Star', declaring it was “brilliant, loved it, I knew I would”.

Barlow also told how he signed Camilla Kerslake to his new label after she dropped off a demo CD at his office every day for six weeks.

He said of his opera singer protege: “I discovered her from her dropping CDs at my studio, and she literally dropped a CD off every day for about six weeks.

“And eventually I went down to the front desk and I said: ’Where’s this girl coming from? Is she attractive? Is she good?’ and they were all like: ’Oh yeah, you need to see her, she’s great’.”

The full interview airs on GMTV on ITV1 tomorrow.
