British fathers’ rights group Fathers 4 Justice today brought chaos to the traditional Sunday service of the Church of England’s General Synod when members climbed on the roof of York Minster in England.
Dressed as vicars, nuns and monks, around a dozen members of the group stormed the historic cathedral.
Around six protesters, shouting “Fathers 4 Justice” and “shame on you”. Managed to get into service as minster staff attempted to close the front door.
Earlier senior members of the Anglican Church, including the Archbishop of Canterbury, Dr Rowan Williams, and the Archbishop of York, Dr David Hope, filed into the minster unaware of the fate that was to befall them.
Fathers 4 Justice is protesting about the Church’s failure to take the lead in lobbying the British government over fathers’ who have no legal access to their children.
