A 12-year-old boy has died after reportedly being crushed by a goalpost at a recreation ground.

A 12-year-old boy has died after reportedly being crushed by a goalpost at a recreation ground.

Police said there are no suspicious circumstances regarding the boy’s death, which happened in Caersws, near Newtown, in Powys, Wales, yesterday afternoon.

It is believed he had been crushed by a goalpost and later died in hospital.

Today a spokesman for Dyfed-Powys Police said: “Dyfed-Powys Police are investigating the sad death of a 12-year-old boy in Caersws.

“There are no suspicious circumstances.

“HM Coroner is being reported to, the family are aware.”

Detective Inspector Ian Andrews previously told the Shropshire Star the boy was part of a group playing football when a goalpost fell on him.
