Blythe Knight could make a quick return to the Flat if connections decide to bypass an engagement at Ayr on Saturday.
The seven-year-old lifted a Grade Two novice hurdle at Aintree last week but trainer John Quinn says he is only “50-50” to take his chance in the Samsung Electronics Scottish Champion Hurdle.
“He’s in the Scottish Champion Hurdle, but I’m going to make my mind up in the morning,” said the trainer.
“If they don’t get appreciable rain, he wouldn’t go. He will probably be entered for the City And Suburban handicap at Epsom next week.
“Blythe Knight is never one that I’ve run terribly quickly back to back, but I put him in this as you have to enter up and think about it.”
Although Blythe Knight won on good ground at Aintree, Quinn would be concerned by the prospect of quick conditions.
“You can have good to firm ground with no jar, but my owners went to Ayr this morning and they say the ground is quite quick up there and if that’s the case, he would be only 50-50 to run,” Quinn told At The Races.
