Appalling act of violence at an Argentinian rugby game this weekend

Argentinian prop Cipriano Martínez is in serious trouble after being caught on camera kicking an opponent into the face.

The violent assault was filmed during a club game between his side Pucará Club and San Albano at the weekend.

Video from Alejo N.C.

Martinez can be clearly seen booting second row Juan Masi into the face while he was down on his hands and knees.

His club released a statement of apology afterwards.

It said: “Pucará Club renounces the anti-sporting conduct which occurred in the match against San Albano. We wish to extend appropriate apologies to the injured player, to the San Albano Club, and to rugby in general. Pucará Club has taken disciplinary measures.”

There are unconfirmed reports online that the club have hit the player with a 99 year ban - but Martinez can also expect to face severe sanctions from the governing rugby union.
