Cattermole and Turner return for Black Cats

Sunderland boss Steve Bruce will welcome back captain Lee Cattermole and central defender Michael Turner from suspension for tomorrow night’s Carling Cup clash with League One Colchester.

Sunderland boss Steve Bruce will welcome back captain Lee Cattermole and central defender Michael Turner from suspension for tomorrow night’s Carling Cup clash with League One Colchester.

Cattermole missed Saturday’s 1-0 Barclays Premier League defeat at West Brom after being sent off during the opening day draw with Birmingham, while Turner completed a two-match ban dating back to last season.

Andy Reid and Anton Ferdinand could return from hamstring problems, but John Mensah will miss out with a similar injury and George McCartney (ankle), Craig Gordon (fractured arm) and David Meyler (knee) remain on the sidelines.
