Limerick hurling boss Dave Keane has been given a timely boost ahead of his first season in charge with the news that three senior players will stay on.
The decision of the hugely influential Ciaran Carey to see out another year will rank as Keane's biggest coup.
Keane, the former U21 county manager who won three All-Ireland titles back-to-back, has also managed to convince goalkeeper Joe Quaid and Stephen McDonagh to see out another season.
Keane will cut his panel of 45 to 30 in the new year after two trial matches over the Christmas period.
