Six Indian children burnt to death when they were splattered with molten hot metal.

Fourteen other people were injured when a gas cylinder exploded at a tiny scrap metal shop in Karimnagar.

The children had gathered in the shop to watch the metal being melted. The cylinder blew up and splashed them with liquid hot metal.

Among the children killed were the two sons of the local police head constable who owns the yard, Mohamed Yusuff.

Ten children, along with Mr Yusuff and three other adults, were also injured in the blast, police told the Times of India.

The tragedy may have been caused by explosive material present in the scrap metal.

Police in India are currently investigating the accident.
