Two terrorism suspects arrested on board a plane at a German airport were released today.

A statement by prosecutors said evidence reviewed so far has not provided sufficient justification to keep the two men in custody.

But prosecutors said the investigation would continue as the two are still suspected of "having conspired to commit a major crime".

The suspects – a 23-year-old Somali and a 24-year-old German born in Somalia - were pulled off a KLM flight at Cologne-Bonn airport as the plane prepared to depart for Amsterdam on September 26.
