Flanagan to pick up achievement gong at IFTAs

Actress Fionnula Flanagan is to be given the Lifetime Achievement Award at this year's IFTAs.

Actress Fionnula Flanagan is to be given the Lifetime Achievement Award at this year's IFTAs.

The awards bash will take place in Dublin on February 11.

The 71-year-old actress said she was "bowled over to be chosen" by the Academy.

The multi-award winner trained at Dublin’s Abbey Theatre and London’s Old Vic.

She has appeared in many TV shows and films - among them 'Ulysses', 'The Others' and 'The Guard'.
