Lincoln winner Sweet Lightning is to have the Godolphin Mile at Meydan on Dubai World Cup night next year as his prime objective.
The six-year-old, trained by Michael Dods, is currently enjoying a break following his win at Doncaster in March, which followed a fruitful trip to Dubai.
He ran there four times, most notably finishing second to proven Group performer Golden Sword over a mile and a quarter.
“He’s having a break. He had a busy time in Dubai and then it was wonderful he came back and win the Lincoln like he did,” said Tim Jones, racing manager to owner Andrew Tinkler.
“I think our focus after that is another trip to Dubai. On the basis of him proving so successful over a mile in the Lincoln on what was only his second run over that trip, we are taking the very long-term view and have our eye on the Godolphin Mile next year.
“His entire preparation will be geared around taking him there and hoping we can get an invitation for that race. He really thrived in Dubai and grew up.”
