Donegal chairman favours player payments

Donegal County Board Chairman Danny Harkin has come out in favour of payment for players.

Donegal County Board Chairman Danny Harkin has come out in favour of payment for players.

Mr Harkin's comments are sure to cause considerable controversy in GAA circles.

The Donegal man even went as far as to suggest that players' body, the GPA, was underselling itself in it's bid to secure payment for players.

"I think what the GPA have been talking about may be underselling themselves. To be honest I would imagine that anywhere at all between the €300 to €400 mark would certainly not be out of the question, taking the dedication those guys are putting in."

Meanwhile the GAA's Games Administration Committee has confirmed that the All-Ireland football quarter-final replay between Leinster champions Dublin and Donegal will take place at Croke Park on Saturday August 17 with a 5pm throw-in.
