Paul Broadhurst quickly established a two-stroke lead on the final day of the BMW PGA Championship at Wentworth – even though he played the first three holes in one over par.

While Broadhurst bogeyed only the short second joint overnight leader Ross Fisher, a member of the host club, started with three dropped shots in a row.

It left the 41-year-old former Ryder Cup player nine under, while Fisher was joint second on seven under with yet another Englishman, Justin Rose, Australian Marcus Fraser and South African Richard Sterne.

Heavy rain during the morning had prompted officials to introduce preferred lies on the wet fairways and to bring tee-off times forward 30 minutes as heavier downpours were expected later in the day.
