Hughie Morrison has yet to decide whether Alcazar will take his chance in the Emirates Airline Yorkshire Cup or wait for other opportunities.
As well as being in the Group Two contest over a mile and three-quarters at York on Friday, the veteran stayer holds entries in the Paddy Power Stakes at Newbury on Saturday and in the Henry II Stakes at Sandown on June 1.
“We have left him at York and are thinking about it. It will depend on a combination of the competition and the ground,” said the East Ilsley trainer.
The 10-year-old showed he is still a strong staying force when he gets some cut in the ground with a game neck victory over Franklins Gardens in the Group Three Sagaro Stakes at Lingfield last month.
Morrison added: “We’ve not done much with him since the Sagaro as he had a hard race.
“If he doesn’t run at York, he’s in at Newbury on Saturday in what the Aston Park. Then there’s the Henry II at Sandown or a Group Two in France.
“We’re keeping all the options open.”
