Connections of Nijoom Dubai acknowledge she is not quite the finished article if dreams of winning the Cheveley Park Stakes are to be realised.
Mick Channon’s filly dropped a 50-1 bombshell in the Albany Stakes with a length-and-a-quarter defeat of subsequent Cherry Hinton scorer, You’resothrilling.
Nijoom Dubai, who is owned by Jaber Abdullah, has not been seen on a racecourse since Royal Ascot, however.
And Bruce Raymond, racing director for Rabbah Bloodstock, acknowledged work needs to be done before the Group One at Newmarket on October 5.
He said: “We’ve always thought a lot of her and her next run is probably going to be the Cheveley Park.
“But I spoke to Mick (on Saturday morning) and he said he wasn’t quite happy in the way she was looking in her coat.
“She got a little temperature about 10 days ago but she’s OK now.
“I think she’s going to go for the Cheveley Park but he (Channon) is not happy in the way she’s looking in her coat at the moment.
“She’s a pretty good filly – she’s got a lot of quality,” Raymond told At The Races.
