A Taiwan minister has urged men to sit down whilst urinating.

Stephen Shen, Environmental Protection Administration (EPA) minister, claims males should sit down while doing their business, as women do, instead of stand up because it would be better for the environment.

His comments have also been backed by Yuan Shaw-jing, EPA director general of environmental sanitation and toxic substance maintenance, who claims such a practice can become the norm.

He said: "We want to learn from Japan and Sweden. In Japan, we heard 30% of the men sit."

However, many men have taken to social networking sites to slam the suggestion.
