A 14-year-old Canadian girl suffered serious facial and nerve damage after being mauled and dragged along a street by two dogs.

The teenager was with a friend early yesterday morning in east Vancouver when she was attacked by two unleashed cross-breed bull mastiffs, police said.

One jumped on to the bonnet of a car and attacked the girl’s head. She was forced to the ground and dragged about a half a block.

The dogs, chased off by neighbours who heard the girl’s screams, were later found and taken to the city pound.

"Veteran officers on the scene have never seen anything as horrible as this in their policing careers," police constable Sarah Bloor said.
