All-Ireland football champions Galway outgunned Westmeath in an entertaining Div 1A NFL tie played in Cusack Park Mullingar.

Goals by Tommy Joyce and Matthew Clancy set up this comfortable victory and Galway who were aided by a strong breeze led by 2-07 to 0-05 at the break.

Westmeath came back strongly in the second half, with All Star Rory O’Connell a commanding figure at midfield.

However, hopes of a home win were dashed when Paul Clancy lobbed Aidan Lennon for Galway’s third goal 15 minutes from time.
