PayPal to expand Dublin operations centre

PayPal today announced plans to move its Dublin operations centre to the Ballycoolin Business Park in Blanchardstown.

PayPal today announced plans to move its Dublin operations centre to the Ballycoolin Business Park in Blanchardstown.

PayPal's Dublin operations centre houses PayPal's European customer service, operations and fraud prevention functions.

There are nearly 900 employees at the current Dublin facility. The new facility holds up to approximately 1,250 desks, and will "better support PayPal as it continues to grow its European operations", a statement said.

"Since opening its Dublin operations centre in late 2003, PayPal has enjoyed rapid growth and expansion," said Craig Hathaway, director, PayPal Europe customer support and operations.

"With its highly skilled workforce, it's clear that the Dublin area is a great home for PayPal, and we're proud to continue to support the local community."

In 2003, PayPal and eBay chose the city of Dublin as the location for its business centre after an extensive evaluation process of several European cities.

PayPal worked with HT Meager O'Reilly, a Dublin-based real estate and property consultancy, to select the property and develop the terms of the lease.

PayPal hopes to begin moving to its new home in Q4 2008.
