The Irish Football Association revealed they have not been approached by any club as speculation continues to mount about manager Nigel Worthington’s future.

The former Norwich boss has expressed an interest in the vacant Sheffield Wednesday job.

Worthington has begun talks with the IFA about a new contract and those are on-going as his current deal expires at the end of the month.

In a statement the governing body said: “The Irish FA would like to confirm that it has not been approached by any club requesting permission to speak to Northern Ireland manager Nigel Worthington.

“Preliminary talks between the association and Nigel Worthington regarding a new contract took place last week and these talks are still ongoing.”

Wednesday are looking for a new manager following the departure of Brian Laws and Worthington has a soft spot for the club, having spent over a decade at Hillsborough as a player.
