Matteo Ferrari has joined Everton on a one-year loan deal from Roma with a view to a permanent transfer.
The 24-year-old Italian defender could be handed a debut tomorrow at Fulham should his international clearance come through in time.
Ferrari will boost Everton’s options at the back with both Per Kroldrup and Alessandro Pistone injured.
Manager David Moyes is delighted to secure the services of such an experienced player.
“He played 50 games for Roma last season and was in the Italian squad that went to the European championships, ” he told www.evertonfc.com.
“We are talking about someone who has decent quality but the biggest thing will be adapting to the Premiership.”
Ferrari said: “I am very happy because I am a fan of English football and Everton have shown so much confidence in me.”
