Waterford hurler Eoin McGrath has been handed a four-week ban by the GAA's Central Disciplinary Committee, it was confirmed today.
A meeting of the CDC last night saw the Mount Sion corner forward suspended for a month following his sending-off for an off-the-ball incident in last Saturday's final All-Ireland group qualifier against Clare.
That means McGrath, who hit a solitary point against the Banner men, will miss Waterford's All-Ireland quarter-final tie with champions Cork on Sunday week, July 24, but he will return for their last-four date (scheduled for August 14), should the Déise progress.
Waterford boss Justin McCarthy is already sweating on the fitness of All-star forward Paul Flynn (leg), who garnered 1-6 against the Rebels in May's Munster semi-final.
The CDC has also suspended Wexford footballer Niall Murphy for two weeks due to the two yellow cards he was issued with in the All-Ireland qualifier loss to Monaghan.
The Bannow/Ballymitty defender, who filled in for the departed Philip Wallace at full-back against the Farney county, incurs the ban as he was previously sent-off within 48 weeks of the last Saturday's game.
Murphy will be eligible for Wexford's Tommy Murphy Cup quarter-final tie, to be played on either July 30 or August 6.
Meanwhile, Fermanagh hurler Mark Curran has been suspended for four weeks. He was shown the red card in his county’s Nicky Rackard Cup clash with Donegal last Saturday.
