Chelsea striker Hernan Crespo has revealed he will sign another season-long loan deal at AC Milan when he returns from international duty with Argentina.

He confirmed after the 3-1 World Cup qualifying victory over Brazil that everything is in place for him to stay for another year at the San Siro on loan from Premiership champions Chelsea.

Part of the arrangement with Milan however is that the 29-year-old must accept a cut in his wages.

“Everything is done with Milan, and all that is missing is my signature,” Crespo said.

“When I return from my holidays, I will do what is left. I am happy and I wanted to stay. There is a financial cost that has come with it.”

Crespo was an essential part of Milan’s success last season which saw them reach the final of the Champions League and also challenge for the Serie A title.

Ultimately, they finished second in both competitions, losing out to Juventus in Serie A and Liverpool in Europe.

“First of all, I have to thank Milan, but I know that the result has been the fruit of my efforts and my hard work,” Crespo said.

“It has been a fantastic season, and I’m happy. It’s a pity about the Champions League final.”

As for the wage cut, Crespo agreed to slash his wages by 25% last summer to play for Milan, earning €3m (£2m) for the year, and next season he will receive €2.5m (£1.67m) for the campaign.
