Three people were killed and at least six injured in Texas after a fire broke out in a Houston office block.

Police believe the fire started in a medical supply firm on the fifth floor of the six-storey building.

District Fire Chief TJ Dowdy said firefighters found the three bodies on the building’s fifth floor.

Dowdy, who said two of the bodies were found in the same office and the other was nearby, said that the fire was contained to the fifth and sixth floors.

The injured included at least three firefighters.

Television footage showed fire personnel guiding people down ladders placed against the structure and a firefighter on a stretcher being put in an ambulance as the flames broke through the glass.
