Dublin hurlers advance to Walsh Cup final

Dublin 1-20 Galway 3-13

A last gasp point from Shane Ryan ensured Dublin's search for a first Walsh Cup title since 2003 continues apace, following a slender win over Galway at Parnell Park.

The Metropolitans needed scores from Conal Keaney and Ryan to edge out Galway and secure a final berth.

Dublin started strongly and led by 0-8 to 0-4 after 27 minutes. However Galway got on top before the break, paring the deficit back to the minimum at the interval on a 0-13 to 1-9 scoreline.

Dublin's woes were further compounded at this stage, with the dismissal of John McCaffrey on a straight red card.

The hosts hit back thanks to the efforts of Tipperary native Ryan O'Dwyer, who claimed some fine points from play and also a vital goal to nudge his side 1-18 to 2-13 in front.

Eanna Ryan grabbed Galway's third goal, but Dublin finished strongly with those crucial scores from former footballers Ryan and Keaney.

Anthony Daly's charges will now face either Laois or Kilkenny, who meet in tomorrow's second semi-final at Kelly Daly Park in Rathdowney.
