The Dublin County Board have tonight confirmed that Anthony Daly is staying on as manager of the Dublin senior hurlers for 2014.
Daly is set for his sixth season at the helm of the Dubs, and is clearly determined to build on this year's campaign which saw them gain promotion back into Allianz League Division 1A and win the Leinster SHC title for the first time since 1961.
A number of Dublin players publicly backed the Clare man to continue in the role and Daly, speaking to Newstalk before the All-Ireland SHC final, indicated his enthusiasm to keep working with the Metropolitans.
"Sure you'd be awful tempted with the year we had, but again are you going to make it better or worse? Better only goes one way, we know the step that needs to be taken to make it better now," he said when asked about his managerial future last week.
"There's a lot to look forward to. Back in Division 1 which was our initial target this year. Those Spring Series games are great, even the opposition teams look forward to coming up to Croke Park on Saturday nights for a double header.
"The players and County Board need to know quick enough (about my decision). I'll look at that decision to be made in the short term. In the next week of so, we'll be making a call on that."
Daly, whose reappointment came at tonight's County Board meeting, has guided the Dubs to long-awaited league and provincial silverware - they made a significant breakthrough in 2011 with their first Division 1 crown in 72 years - and clearly has his sights set on All-Ireland glory.
The 43-year-old lifted the Liam MacCarthy Cup as Clare captain in both 1995 and 1997, but has endured a frustrating run of All-Ireland semi-final results as a manager.
Daly watched his Dublin side lose at the penultimate stage to Cork last month and also Tipperary in 2011, while his prior spell in charge of his native Clare included All-Ireland semi-final defeats to Cork (2005) and Kilkenny (2006).
