Waterford United's Daryl Murphy is the eircom/Soccer Writer's Association Player of the Month for September.
The Republic of Ireland U21 striker, currently preparing for Friday night’s UEFA Championship qualifier against France in Troyes, had a stand-out month as a goalscorer and provider as Waterford maintained their bid for a European place next season and moved closer to a berth in the FAIreland Cup final.
Murphy was ever present for the Blues in September, scoring both goals in the 2-1 win at United Park which put a dent in Drogheda United’s title hopes and has helped bring his total for the season to 17 goals.
The striker was also cited for his “significant contribution” in Waterford's other three games, a 3-1 victory over Shelbourne and the two games over Rockmount in the FAIreland Carlsberg Cup
