At least 14 people were killed when a tornado ripped through two provinces in eastern China, state media reported today.
Another 146 others were hurt and more than 800 houses were destroyed in Jiangsu province’s Gaoyou city and nearby in Tianchang city in Anhui, the official Xinhua News Agency reported.
“High winds and heavy rain cut off power and telecommunications, ripped roofs off buildings and uprooted thousands of trees,” the Gaoyou government said in a press release, adding that yesterday’s twister was the city’s worst in 50 years.
