Cowell: Last year's X-Factor 'sub-standard'
Simon Cowell thinks last year's 'X Factor' was "crappy".
The 52-year-old music mogul - who quit the panel of the ITV1 show to launch the US version of the talent series - admitted there "wasn't enough raw talent" to the extent that the entire competition, which was won by girlband Little Mix, felt "sub-standard".
He said: "We have good years and crappy years and there just wasn't enough raw talent and personality in this year's finals.
"Certainly 'The X Factor' here felt sub-standard. It won't happen again. The selection process has to be better."
While Simon conceded there needs to be "some changes" to the judging panel - which featured Gary Barlow, Tulisa Contostavlos, Kelly Rowland and Louis Walsh - he would find it "difficult" not to include Louis in the show.
He added in an interview with the Daily Mail newspaper: "There will be some changes. It would be difficult [not to have Louis on the show]. Some people loved Gary, some people didn't."
Simon also took a swipe at the BBC, claiming the broadcaster is "obsessed with ratings" and they only scheduled their new talent show 'The Voice' for the same time as 'Britain's Got Talent' because they don't like how successful the ITV1 series is.
He added: "What makes me laugh is when the BBC say we are not doing this or that to be competitive. That is bulls***. They are obsessed with ratings.
"When they put up shows against each other like that, it is not for the good of the viewing audience. It is because they want to beat us and guess what? We want to beat them.
"They have put 'The Voice' on to compete with 'Britain's Got Talent' because the BBC don't like the fact that it is so successful. I am not going to sit back and say, 'OK, fine.' I am going to re-enforce my shows a little bit."
